He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted center fielder was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room.
"He was patient up there today," the Columbus skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. An has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes."
J. An doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off M. King in the 8th.
This season An is hitting .299 with 3 home runs. |  | Monday, May 17th, 2021: South Atlantic League Selects Best Performer It was an exceptional week for Joe Bannatyne of the Columbus Catfish.
First he beats the devil out of the ball, hitting .478 and you would expect, he is voted the Player of the Week in the South Atlantic League. Last week Bannatyne went 11-23, notched 4 home runs and 10 RBIs and scored 8 runs. All in all, a very good week for him.
Bannatyne has collected 30 hits for the Catfish this year, 6 of them home runs. He has also netted 21 RBIs and scored 18 runs while batting .405. |  | Saturday, May 15th, 2021: Bannatyne On Fire! 5-5 for Columbus! Joe Bannatyne really sizzled at the plate today. In a game played at Ballpark of Columbus, the Columbus center fielder blistered the Delmarva Shorebirds for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace his club to a 20-2 victory.
"Bannatyne was too tough to get out today," the Shorebirds skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
J. Bannatyne doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off M. Mills in the 8th.
