| Breaking News | | Tuesday, September 1st, 2020: Cleveland Loses Julio Gallo The Cleveland Indians will have to make do without Julio Gallo for 1-2 weeks. He suffered a finger blister while throwing a pitch in the game today against the Seattle Mariners. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the reliever. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back." Gallo will miss 1-2 weeks.
Gallo has taken the mound for 47 relief appearances this season, nailing down 14 saves while notching a 5-4 record with a 4.52 ERA. The Cleveland reliever has limited opposing batters to a .257 batting average. | | Saturday, August 22nd, 2020: Soprano Raps 300-th Roundtripper The Tampa Bay 7-2 victory over Cleveland was highlighted by Anthony Soprano's 300th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.
"I didn't see all of them out there," Soprano laughed, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"
In 3 at-bats the Devil Rays first baseman collected 2 hits in his historic game, scored 2 runs and had 2 runs batted in.
In his career Soprano has played in 1898 games with a .274 batting average. Among his 1731 hits are 259 doubles, 13 triples and 300 home runs. He also has scored 971 runs and driven in 1112 runs. | | Monday, August 10th, 2020: American League Winner is Bruce The #1 hitter in the American League was Cleveland center fielder Jay Bruce.
