Sunday, August 23rd, 2020: Hot Bat of Ortíz Burns Nationals
On top of the Frederick hit parade today was Mario Ortíz. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Keys to a 10-2 victory over the Potomac Nationals. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-5 performance.

The sweet swinging second baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."

The skipper of the Nationals wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

M. Ortíz singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off O. Morín in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.

In 20 games Ortíz is hitting .324 this season for the Keys with 23 hits, 1 home run, 13 RBIs, 3 walks, .347 OBP and has scored 9 runs .

Wednesday, August 12th, 2020: Hit Parade! Ferris Pops 5 Hits!
Frederick third baseman Bradley Ferris could do no wrong in today's 8-5 win over the Pelicans as he collected 5 hits.

"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor...he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Pelicans said to the press corps after the game.

Ferris agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."

B. Ferris singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, hit an RBI double in the 11th and singled in the 13th.

So far this season Ferris is batting .353 with no home runs, 14 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 47 hits in 133 at-bats, 2 walks and a .363 OBP. Ferris has played in 28 games.

Friday, July 24th, 2020: Hot Bat of Rojas Burns Pelicans
"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Miguel Rojas after his 5-hit performance against the Pelicans. "No offense meant to Myrtle Beach, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Ballpark of Frederick!"

The Frederick shortstop had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 5-3 victory.

His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Miguel worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."

"That's what I'm trying to do," Rojas said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."

M. Rojas singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off T. Montoya in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off T. Montoya in the 8th.

This year Rojas is batting .361 with 26 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 17 times and has batted in 11 runs.
