| Breaking News | | Friday, July 30th, 2021: Kato Batters Connecticut for 5 Hits There are moments in a player's career that are etched into their memories forever. Masamichi Kato of the Harrisburg Senators had one of those moments when he went 5 for 6 at the plate today in the 7-5 win over the Connecticut Defenders at Senators Ballpark.
The 20-year-old shortstop told reporters in the postgame interview, "This is a day I won't forget soon, but I'll settle to just get a hit or two every day...enough hits to hang around the league a little bit longer... like 10... 15 more years maybe."
M. Kato singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 10th.
Year-to-date in 110 games Kato has compiled a .272 batting average with 123 hits and no home runs. He has also scored 66 times and knocked in 39 runs. | | Wednesday, July 28th, 2021: Defenders Get Shutout Win Over Fisher Cats According to José Guzmán of the Connecticut Defenders, "There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location." He told his pitching philosophy to sportswriters in the postgame interview after his 2-0 victory over New Hampshire.
He blanked them on a 4-hitter, allowed 1 walk and had 9 strikeouts. "I really felt comfortable the whole game," Guzmán said.
His manager echoed his comments, saying, "He hit his spots time and time again."
Currently Guzmán has a 1-5 won-lost record in 7 starts with a 8.62 ERA. He also has 22 strikeouts in 31.1 innings. | | Sunday, July 18th, 2021: Trenton's Rocha Stands Out in Shutout On the hill Balta Rocha stood out and was the master of the moment as he blanked Connecticut 4-0.
At bat the Defenders floundered, fizzled and failed to score.
"His fastball moves and he mixes in the slider," the Connecticut manager said. "He kept us off balance."
The Trenton pitcher hurled a 5-hit shutout in an exceptional effort. He gave up 3 walks and numbered 2 strikeouts.
"I felt good," Rocha said. "That's probably the best fastball I've had all season. I was able to locate it pretty well. They were super-aggressive, which helped me."
To this point in the season, Rocha shows a 5-4 record, 10 starts, 72.2 innings, 26 strikeouts and a 2.72 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Paul Sea | herniated disc (back) | 4 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 45-75, .375 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 34.0 GB | | Record at home | 25-35, .417 PCT | | Record on the road | 20-40, .333 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-11, .389 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 17-17, .500 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-22, .333 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 34-53, .391 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 9-19, .321 PCT | | Record in May | 8-21, .276 PCT | | Record in June | 10-15, .400 PCT | | Record in July | 12-17, .414 PCT | | Record in August | 6-3, .667 PCT |
