Sunday, September 19th, 2021: St. Louis Blanked by Opitz
Henry Opitz of the Colorado Rockies was one tough customer on the hill today. He blanked the St. Louis Cardinals 2-0 on 4 hits, registering 12 strikeouts and no walks.

"When he's on, he's tough to hit," said the St. Louis manager after the game. "He's just a bulldog out there."

This season Opitz has worked 195.2 innings with 140 strikeouts en route to a 10-11 record and a 4.05 ERA.
Friday, September 3rd, 2021: Hits Galore! Shedd Drills 6 Hits!
It was a hits blitz for Jimmy Shedd at PNC Park. The Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman tore into Colorado for 6 hits in 6 at-bats to pace Pirates to a 11-6 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.

The manager for the Rockies bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Shedd, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."

J. Shedd doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off S. Escamilla in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

In 132 games this year Shedd has posted a .297 average and put up these numbers: 10 home runs, 36 RBIs and 63 runs scored.
Saturday, July 31st, 2021: Colorado's Deason Injured
"It was kinda freaky. Hopefully, I'll be back in the lineup soon," said a dejected Charles Deason after injuring himself in a game against Portland. The Colorado manager told SION reporters, "He will miss up to 3-4 weeks with a hyperextended knee." The Rockies will have to decide over the next day or two whether the center fielder will go on the disabled list.

Thus far in 2021 Deason is hitting .267 with 7 home runs, 35 RBIs, 67 runs scored and has compiled a .341 OBP.
