| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, June 9th, 2021: Ramírez Rips Cincinnati for 5 Hits All game long Houston's Mario Ramírez was rattling the walls at Minute Maid Park and banging out base hits against the Cincinnati Reds and when the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a career day, a 5-hit day, but no victory. The Reds defeated the Astros 8-7 to take a little of the glitter of the occasion away.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 25-year-old shortstop lamented, "To get 5 hits and win a ballgame, that would have been a very special day. But we didn't win today. It's not easy to be happy when you lose. Only losers do that."
In all, Ramírez collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a spot in the record book.
M. Ramírez hit a solo-shot off M. Watt in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, flied out in the 9th and hit an RBI double in the 11th.
This year Ramírez is hitting .221, produced 35 RBIs and 12 home runs, scored 30 times and gotten on base at a .284 rate. |  | Tuesday, June 1st, 2021: Houston's Grandal Out 2 Weeks After the end of today's game between Houston and Oakland, Yasmani Grandal skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after running the bases, the Astros had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The catcher will miss at least 2 weeks with a strained abdominal muscle.
Currently Grandal is hitting .301 and has collected 15 home runs, 42 RBIs and scored 46 times, while playing in 57 games. |  | Tuesday, May 18th, 2021: San Antonio Wins, Shuts Out Astros In a knockout performance, Carlos Ortiz beat the Astros 7-0 with an impressive 3-hit shutout.
The Stampede hurler finished with 7 strikeouts and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
Ortiz told reporters after the game, "My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working ...it don't get any better than this."
The Astros manager said, "It was a rough one for my guys. We weren't at our best...and their guy was."
