The Pacific Coast League has chosen Thomas Aherne of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox as Player of the Week.
What a week Aherne had. He hit .414 (12-29) with 5 home runs, 9 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
So far this season Aherne is batting .293 with 10 home runs.

 | Thursday, April 29th, 2021: Portland's Hruska Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
It was a big day with the bat for Elvis Hruska of the Portland Beavers at Ballpark of Portland as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Colorado Springs 4-3.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today -- Bingo! -- 5 hits in 8 tries! But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Hruska had collected 5 hits in 8 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Beavers had won.
The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.
E. Hruska was hit by a pitch in the 1st, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, grounded out in the 11th, singled in the 13th, grounded out in the 15th, singled in the 18th and hit a two-run single in the 19th.
In 2021 Hruska has produced 29 hits in 105 at-bats for a .276 average with 2 home runs and gotten on base at a .356 clip.

 | Wednesday, April 7th, 2021: Scott 5-6 for Sky Sox
Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Sky Sox Ballpark when Tim Scott of Colorado Springs scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Memphis Redbirds.
He walloped 5 hits in 6 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Sky Sox get by the Redbirds 9-2.
In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the left fielder of the Sky Sox exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens...good things happen...like 5-6. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."
T. Scott struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off L. Kamphuis in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season Scott is batting at a .387 clip with 1 home run and 7 RBIs.
