It was a sensational day at the plate for Andrew Utting, but a letdown as well as the Angels Of Anahiem dropped the game 10-9 to the Red Sox.
Nonetheless the Los Angeles (A) designated hitter was pure misery for the Boston pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win. That's the important thing," Utting said.
The manager for the Red Sox told SION reporters after the game, "Utting put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw him some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
A. Utting singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off W. Brown in the 7th, walked in the 9th, hit an RBI single in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
In the 2021 season Utting has hit .339 with 20 home runs, 56 RBIs and scored 56 runs.

Paul Upshaw had to leave the Red Sox game against Detroit after suffering a strained tricep muscle while throwing the ball. He will be out of the lineup at least 2 weeks. He told SION reporters, "I just felt a sharp pain when it happened. I knew there was something wrong."
In 2021 Upshaw is hitting .301 with 63 hits, 2 home runs, 23 RBIs, .344 OBP and has scored 31 runs.

"I hope we miss him next time," the Boston manager said. "Gonzalez certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
The Tampa Bay starter tamed the Boston Red Sox 12-0 with a 5-hit shutout, finishing the game with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Gonzalez said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."
In 9 starts this year Gonzalez has crafted a 4-1 record and a 3.58 ERA.
