In an impressive mound performance, Edward Dattilo of the Florida Marlins checked the Atlanta Braves on a 4-hitter and held them scoreless.
"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," according to the Atlanta manager.
"Dattilo kept us confused the whole game."
The Florida hurler rang up 10 strikeouts and issued 2 walks in his 7-0 shutout victory.
In 17 starts this year Dattilo has posted 6 wins while suffering 9 losses. He has pitched 82 innings, allowed 73 hits, struck out 87 and has a 4.06 ERA.

Albert Ahumada at first refused to leave today's New York (N)-Atlanta game after he suffered a tender elbow while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I'm a competitor," the feisty Atlanta reliever said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Ahumada out of action for 1-2 weeks.
This year Ahumada has earned 1 save, worked 28.2 innings, fanned 29 hitters and recorded a 3.77 ERA. He has also put up a 0-0 won-lost mark.
