It was tremendous day for Samuel Byrd, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 5 barrage.
The Texas right fielder told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
S. Byrd singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off R. Platt in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off A. Braley in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
Posting a .435 batting average to date, Byrd has 15 home runs and 44 RBIs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 46-21, .687 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 22-8, .733 PCT | | Record on the road | 24-13, .649 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 3-3, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 10-9, .526 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 15-6, .714 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 31-15, .674 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 8-2, .800 PCT | | Record in April | 15-11, .577 PCT | | Record in May | 21-7, .750 PCT | | Record in June | 10-3, .769 PCT |
