The speculation as to who will be the number one pick can now officially begin. Earlier today, TheShow published its list of players eligible for the annual rookie draft. For the next thirty days, scouts will be busy studying this untested talent in order to come up with a list of names to recommend that their clubs pursue. But just who those picks will be won't be known until the draft is conducted next month. A section on the potential draftees has been added to the Transaction section of the SION site, which will remain active up until the draft takes place.

The long awaited and much anticipated Opening Day of baseball is finally here!! For both fans and teams, hope always springs eternal. The proverbial "next year" is finally here! For better or worse, we'll find out what all the offseason management moves, manipulations and changes in personnel will bring. So, break out the peanuts and crackerjacks, sit back, sip on a tall cool one, and "GET READY FOR SOME BASEBALL"!!!

Oakland fans embraced the signing of Rube Walker today with a few doubts. While most were appreciative that the club had signed a solid ballplayer, they were also concerned about his reputation as a "me first" kind of guy.
Walker was signed for $1,040,000 over 1 year.
Walker's all-time stats include: 1242 hits, 215 doubles, 5 triples, 171 home runs and 670 RBIs in 1460 games. Lifetime he is batting .250 and boasts a .317 OBP with 493 walks, 1413 strikeouts, 7 stolen bases and has scored 656 runs. |
