Monday, August 20th, 2012: Relying on pinpoint control and a good array of pitches, Nicholas Floyd of the AZL Mariners held the AZL Giants scoreless today. He scattered 3 hits over 9 innings and fanned 4 on his way to the 9-0 victory.
Floyd has made 10 starts, tossed 81.2 innings, struck out 35 batters and walked 12. His record is 7-1 with a 0.88 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .180 batting average. |

Monday, August 20th, 2012: Pat Chapman went on a week-long batting spree against Arizona League pitchers and hauled in the Player of the Week trophy.
The AZL shortstop battered the opposition for 11 hits in 23 at-bats, no home runs, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. He hit .478 and posted a .478 on-base percentage.
Currently Chapman has 2 home runs and a .308 batting average. |
 | MacMenzies Hot, Rangers Cold
Saturday, August 18th, 2012: The AZL Rangers struggled at the plate today against Padres hurler Warner MacMenzies, who shackled them on 3 hits while hurling a complete game 1-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Rangers skipper in his postgame comments.
"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
MacMenzies finished the game with 5 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," his manager said. "Warner made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
Checking out his stats for the year, MacMenzies has racked up 3 wins and 6 losses in 9 starts, 1.96 ERA and struck out 28 batters in 69 innings. |
