This promising rookie second baseman for Burlington garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy.
The 20-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .464 (13-28) with no home runs and 2 RBIs last week.
So far in 2012 Martínez is batting .302 with 1 home run, 22 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 64 hits in 212 at-bats and a .342 OBP. |  | APP's Top Player, Henderson of Bluefield Monday, August 13th, 2012: Bluefield's Patrick Henderson nabbed the latest Appalachian League Player of the Week Award for his batting prowess this past week.
Posting a hefty .429 average with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored, the 23-year-old is the toast of Bluefield right now.
Henderson is hitting .291 for the season with 2 home runs, 26 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 59 hits in 203 at-bats and played in 51 games. |  | Kingsport's García Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Wednesday, August 8th, 2012: It was a good day all around. Kingsport whipped Princeton 4-2 and Diego García displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at H.P. Hunnicutt Field.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Diego is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have."
The 21-year-old right fielder for the Mets collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats to get his name in the record book.
D. García singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For the season García is currently batting .331 with no home runs and 13 RBIs.
