Pitcher of the Month Named in APP
Wednesday, August 1st, 2012: July was a very good month for Alfredo Lerma of the Elizabethton Twins. He held opposing hitters for a .157 average and took home the Appalachian League Pitcher of the Month award.

In 6 starts he claimed a 5-0 record as he put up a 0.55 ERA and struck out 37 in 49 innings.

For the season Lerma has logged 6 wins and no losses and struck out 59 batters in 72 innings while compiling a 0.88 ERA.
Ballard Snags APP Batting Honor in July
Wednesday, August 1st, 2012: Bob Ballard was at the top of the hit parade in the Appalachian League throughout July. For the outstanding month, the talented Burlington right fielder was chosen the Batter of the Month.

He compiled a .351 average with 39 hits, no home runs, 16 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

This season Ballard has hit at a .365 clip with 21 RBIs, 0 home runs and 22 runs scored. He has played in 37 games.
Libby Fashions Shutout Against Princeton
Monday, July 30th, 2012: Bryan Libby of the Pulaski Mariners was right on target when he blanked the Princeton Rays 4-0, yielded 4 hits and totaled 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.

Speaking to BNN reporters after the game, Libby said, "I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too. They saved my butt a few times."

To date Libby is 5-2 in 9 starts with a 2.37 ERA and has 48 strikeouts in 68.1 innings.
