Monday, August 20th, 2012: What's in a number? In baseball, just about everything.
The numbers that Hagerstown's Leon Faulkner put up last week were the envy of the league, as Faulkner came away with South Atlantic League Player of the Week honors.
He belted out 11 hits in 20 at-bats, no home runs and 3 RBIs last week as he posted his .550 batting average.
Currently Faulkner is hitting .286 and has collected no home runs, 44 RBIs and scored 55 times, while playing in 123 games. |
 | Gaston Tosses Shutout
Thursday, August 16th, 2012: Magic was in the air and on the mound at Lake Olmstead Stadium today as Nicholas Gaston held Wisconsin spellbound in his 8-0 shutout victory. The Augusta pitcher went the route, ran up 13 strikeouts, walked 0 and held the Timber Rattlers to 1 hit to garner the win.
To date this season, Gaston has registered 26 starts, 10-10 won-lost mark, 2.62 ERA, 185.2 IP, 173 strikeouts and 38 walks. Opposing teams have hit .211 against him. |
| Faulkner Selected Player of the Week
Monday, August 13th, 2012: All week long Leon Faulkner was the talk of the South Atlantic League... his name and face were everywhere. So it was no surprise to anyone when he was chosen the South Atlantic League's Player of the Week for his exceptional performance.
Faulkner put up a solid set of stats, compiling a .467 average (14-30) and contributing no home runs and 4 RBIs to claim the honor.
This season Faulkner is batting .274 with no home runs. His totals include 41 RBIs and 52 runs scored. |
