According to his manager, "He had command of every ball and every pitch... great location, too." Broadway had 7 strikeouts and issued no walks in an impressive outing.
Broadway has gone to the hill for 39 relief appearances this season, nailing down 3 saves while notching a 5-3 record with a 4.48 ERA. The Charlotte reliever has limited opposing batters to a .232 batting average. | | Hammel Befuddles Charlotte Friday, August 17th, 2012: The Knights manager was philosophical after his team was shut out by the Gwinnett Braves 5-0.
"It was just one of those games, shake it off and do better next time," he said.
Jason Hammel blanked them on 2 hits with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs. They were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Hammel said.
"I set them up pretty good, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
For this year Hammel has chalked up 9 wins and 8 losses in 18 starts with 100 strikeouts in 140.1 innings and a 2.50 ERA. | | | | | Yesterday's Games - | | Away Team | Home Team | Result | Time | Winning Pitcher | Losing Pitcher | | Las Vegas | Columbus | 6-2 | 7:05 pm | B.Cecil (12-4, 2.58 ERA) | K.Saarloos (4-3, 3.83 ERA) | | Syracuse | Indianapolis | 8-0 | 7:05 pm | S.Martis (4-3, 2.88 ERA) | Z.Duke (11-7, 3.81 ERA) | | Durham | Louisville | 4-5 | 7:00 pm | J.Unknown (0-0, 0.00 ERA) | K.Kendrick (12-6, 3.77 ERA) | | Charlotte | Gwinnett | 2-3 | 12:15 pm | D.Pauley (4-7, 4.56 ERA) | P.Maholm (2-2, 3.58 ERA) | | Toledo | Norfolk | 2-1 | 7:00 pm | J.Unknown (0-0, 0.00 ERA) | Z.Britton (8-6, 2.22 ERA) | | | Today's Games - | | Away Team | Home Team | Time | Starting Pitcher Away Team | Starting Pitcher Home Team | | Las Vegas (79-51, Road: 41-24) | Columbus (41-89, Home: 22-44) | 7:05 pm | LHP G.Gonzalez (13-5, 2.11 ERA) | LHP D.Pruitt (3-2, 4.43 ERA) | | Louisville (40-90, Road: 18-44) | Charlotte (79-51, Home: 39-23) | 7:15 pm | | RHP N.Griffith (14-8, 2.51 ERA) | | Norfolk (83-47, Road: 33-29) | Indianapolis (79-51, Home: 39-26) | 7:05 pm | RHP K.Schmidt (16-5, 2.29 ERA) | RHP Q.Miller (16-7, 2.56 ERA) | | Durham (71-59, Road: 29-35) | Syracuse (63-67, Home: 30-32) | 7:05 pm | LHP J.Smoker (13-8, 3.42 ERA) | RHP C.Mortensen (11-9, 3.45 ERA) | | Toledo (42-88, Road: 18-47) | Gwinnett (67-63, Home: 35-29) | 7:15 pm | | RHP C.Rasmus (10-7, 2.83 ERA) | | Scranton WB (61-69, Road: 35-29) | Lehigh Valley (27-104, Home: 13-52) | 7:05 pm | RHP J.Johnson (12-16, 4.79 ERA) | | | Pawtucket (90-41, Road: 48-19) | Rochester (89-41, Home: 41-24) | 7:00 pm | LHP D.Richardson (11-7, 3.67 ERA) | RHP B.Enright (1-0, 1.08 ERA) | | |
