Wednesday, August 1st, 2012: There's something about a young rookie winning the International League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Nick A. Green, a 27-year-old starter for the Rochester Red Wings.
In July, he topped off the month with a 5-0 mark and 2.23 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 44.1 innings, fanned 40 and held opposing teams to a .195 average.
In 23 starts this season Green has crafted a 11-8 record with a 3.03 ERA. |
 | Pearce Takes Best Bat Trophy in July
Wednesday, August 1st, 2012: Steven Pearce is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Indianapolis left fielder joined that select company when the International League announced the results of July's voting.
Pearce totaled 36 hits, 16 walks, 4 home runs, 17 RBIs and 21 runs scored last month to put together a .333 batting average and .430 on-base percentage.
Currently Pearce is batting .322 with 139 hits and 20 home runs. He has knocked in 77 runs and scored 85 times. |
