Friday, August 10th, 2012: Esmailyn Gonzalez, second baseman for the Washington Nationals, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 1 hit in his club's 6-3 victory today over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Nationals Park.
E. Gonzalez doubled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, walked in the 5th and grounded out in the 7th.
This season Gonzalez is batting .314 with 132 hits and 10 home runs. He has scored 58 times and has 52 RBI. |
 | Jason Heyward Out One Week
Wednesday, August 8th, 2012: Florida fans will be disappointed to learn that Jason Heyward suffered an intercostal strain while running the bases in today's game. After the doctor informed the Florida Marlins manager that Heyward was expected to miss one week, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the right fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
So far this season Heyward has gotten 81 hits in 288 at-bats for a .281 batting average with 7 home runs. His stats include 43 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He has played in 75 games. |

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012: The New York (N) Mets got a great effort from Mike Pelfrey as the 28-year-old hurler tossed a complete-game 6-0 shutout over the St. Louis Cardinals. He struck out 5 while allowing 6 hits and walking 1.
